Welcome to the Star Lake Elementary School library! My name is Ms. Groshell and I’m very excited to get to have your child in library class. I give lessons and do library checkout with every class alongside our library clerk, Mrs. Walker, every six school days.

During our lessons, we will learn about book care, digital citizenship, hour of code and how to find good fit books. Kindergarten to second grade students will also read all of the Washington Children’s Choice Picture Book Award nominees for 2026. Third to Fifth grade students will learn about library orientation, how to search for books on Destiny Discover, find them in the library and put them back where they belong.

For lots of library and coding activities please go to our library page:  Star Lake Library Activities and Games

For those interested in competing in the Battle of the Books (available to all 3rd-5th grade students), here is the list for this year: BoB2026PrintOut.pdf More information will be coming in January.

Take Advantage of King County Library System!

All students of FWPS can access ebooks, audiobooks, online magazines and databases like Britannica and BookFlix Videos using their student ID. Follow this link: Elementary School Students | King County Library System, find the resource you want to use and then put in their username and password.

Username: 210StudentID (Student ID is the same as their lunch number)
Password: Last 4 digits of student ID

For example, if my student ID was 123456, my username would be 210123456 and my password would be 3456.

If you have any book or reading questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Happy Reading!
